Shreveport FD rolls two rigs in three days

For the second time in three days a Shreveport Fire Department rig has turned over during a response.

Eric Pointer, KSLA-TV:

Assistant Fire Chief Fred Sanders said a fire crew was investigating a call about smoke in the area. Fire engine 6 was driving northbound and tried to make room for a southbound passing car when the truck tipped over into a ditch on Montana Street.

The car then drove away from the scene, said Chief Sanders.

“SPD is investigating. We do know this is a narrow road, there is no curb. If you go off the road here, you’re in a ditch,” said Chief Sanders. “That’s what happened with engine 6.”

The were 3 firefighters in the truck. One of them was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Chief Sanders said the firefighter driving the truck was not the normal driver.

On Monday, a fire truck overturned near the intersection of Kings Highway and Linwood Avenue. One of the two firefighters injured in that crash is still recovering in the hospital.
